A building site, a dumping site, a network of electric wires or reflections in a window are of no interest to us, but art encourages us to see intensely, beyond the appearances. For the wonder lies more in the look than in the thing being looked at. Sensitive to atmospheres, the artist seizes the fertile moment when the sense of beauty suddenly bursts forth. To do this, he relies on an extreme realism, but executed by hand and hand alone, never achieved by technologically assisted work. Hence the carnal quality and the density of the pictorial rendering.
