Jos Albert Prize
16-11-2024
Bert Mertens receives the Jos Albert Prize from the Royal Academy of Belgium.
This prize is awarded every year to a contemporary figurative painter. Applications may come from any country in the European Union. The jury is made up of Belgian artists and art critics who are members of the Arts Section of the royal Academy of Belgium.
To mark the occasion, an exhibition is organised in the artist's studio-gallery.
Françoise Roberts-Jones, who knew Jos Albert, came to explain what motivates for her the attribution of the Jos Albert Prize to the realism that Bert Mertens practices in his work.
